about
Inspired by Marcel Proust's short story 'Relics', this song was composed solely on piano and was recorded as such, all in one take.
I was honoured to have Jake Alun providing his ethereal vocals, and for his wonderful improvisation in the latter half of the song.
With love,

LYRICS
All budding liaisons are bleached out;
the lawn’s worn with evening,
and all I wish to do is wilt the quietude
in this house.
Daydreams through the aces of creased cards and suitcases,
which unbeknownst to you retain a trace of these old routines
in mere static of a bygone dream.
Orris in the poplar bowl,
vignettes framed on seven sheets of snow,
quotations taken from high echelon prose,
in recurrent moments in search of lost name,
bloom a childhood with madeleines.
Plaroma-warm relics of a bygone age you lived,
yet I dreamed.
As I peruse I seem to false recall peculiar ways
you’d turn the book spines in,
and that way it was a mystery of the page,
but in truth, they’re all out of place.
