about

Inspired by the poetry of Walt Whitman, this song was composed solely on piano, and recorded as such, all in one take.

LYRICS

Undisguised he breathes the ardent distillation;
the oakmoss panoply that smokes the soul between.
Whilst every atom lies in latent expectation,
the onanist retains his grip upon the frailest of leaves.

Woven through the hand,
the pale democracies of man wept into the land,
the sum of all intrinsic meaning.

Have they reckoned a thousand acres much,
or left the native fields to feed the fires of countless arms,
until the flesh folds empty?

Unified they pass through prairie grass,
dividing the redwood pageantry from all that falls between.
Despite the legion’s sighs of hesitance abiding,
engirth him with a comrade’s kiss upon the pages unseen.

Sculpted to the breast,
a martyr’s word of righteousness, solely they possess
the sum of all intrinsic meaning.

As he wanders their path they sing of what they seek,
a restrained foray in feeling, a conviction of belief.
In the broadcloth they pray to the virile grounds adored,
one beside the other, their sole will as law.

Still, they neglect to see the triumphs in the subtleties;
they hear the volume not the meaning.

Come close,
take heed of the knowledge we hold.
We’ll provide the answers you’ve never been told.
